El Dorado Hills newborn photography with parents & siblings

There is nothing quite like seeing children with their new brother or sister! During my years of photographing newborn babies with their families, I have documented a wide range of emotions! From absolute admiration that often results in the baby being smothered in kisses, to absolute indifference, to sometimes wishing that the baby would be returned back to where it came from! And all of it is precious and exciting to photograph!

Is it always easy? No. I often tell parents that for every person in the image the complexity of getting the photograph “right” gets harder and harder. But perhaps we need to forget about a “right” image and focus on capturing the wonder, joy and love of a new little baby! And when that happens the result will be pictures that melt your heart and help you remember that time in your life when your family had a newborn baby!

During a family newborn photography session at my studio in El Dorado Hills or at your home, my goal is to create a collection of images from causal and candid to traditional. Before your session, we will discuss what is most important to you and I will focus on capturing that style.

My studio has a small mock living room to capture causal pictures often referred to as “Lifestyle” images. I have a small blow-up bed that is wonderful for capturing small children with their newborn baby in a very safe way. See the top image.

There is also a white wall where I create more studio traditional images.  Also, in my studio there is a side room that warms up nicely for when it’s time to pose the baby and get those sleepy newborn pictures!

So whether you want your family’s newborn session at my studio or at your home, my goal will be the same, to take pictures that will preserve the wonder of that new little baby being adored by you family!

If you are interested in having your baby photographed feel free to contact me so we can discuss the details! For newborns, babies are best photographed when they are 14 days or less in age. If your baby is older than 14 days it is still possible to photograph your baby in poses it might just need extra time- please call to discuss!

COVID 19: The studio and props are sanitized before every session and I wear a mask at all times. If you have concerns about Covid 19 please contact me and we can discuss and see if a studio session would be a good fit for your family. I also offer newborn sessions as home and newborn sessions that are fully outside (determined by the weather.)
